eCo-FEV

eCo-FEV [http://www.eco-fev.eu/]

Project co-funded by the European Commission under the 7th Framework Programme (No. FP7 314411); the project has involved 13 partners from UK, ITA, DE and FR: Hitachi Europe (Coordinator), BlueThink, CEA, Centro Ricerche FIAT, Conseil Général de l’Isère, EICT, ENERGRID, Facit Research, Institute for Economic Research and Consulting, Politecnico di Torino, RENAULT, TECNOSITAF and TU Berlin. The overall budget is 4.3 million Euro and co-funding from the European Union is about three million Euro.

The eCo-FEV project is aimed at achieving a breakthrough in FEV (Full electric vehicles) introduction by proposing a general architecture for integration of FEV into the different infrastructure systems cooperating with each other – thus allowing precise EV telematics services and charging management service based on the real time information.

In the beginning of the project, the use cases and requirements were defined and the design of the functional architecture was started. The development and the following integration of the eCo-FEV sub-systems has been a subsequent activity as a preparation for the system validation. The final planned phase focused on testing the system and proceed to a demonstration at two test sites for recharging electric vehicles in France and Italy.

The transport engineering area of Politecnico di Torino in mainly involved in the work package which aims at ensuring that the envisaged system is properly working and at assessing whether it may have a positive impact on the transport system as a whole, from the energy, environmental, motorised mobility viewpoints

Particular emphasis is given to the definition and set up of the verification and validation plan, measurement of the system performances, verification of the functionality, comparison with different solutions, assessment of benefits, some quantification and characterization of the demand

Period: 33 months, since September 2012 until May 2015
